In summary: F1 Reaction is a reaction time game inspired by Formula 1 start lights. Sign-in with Google is optional and only required to publish your score to the leaderboard. We only collect information necessary for the app to function and do not share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how F1 Reaction ("we", "our" or "the application") collects, uses and protects information when you use our mobile application.
By using F1 Reaction, you accept the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the application.
2. Information We Collect
2.1. Account Information (Optional — Google Sign-In)
Google Sign-In is optional. You can play the game without signing in. If you choose to sign in to publish your score to the leaderboard, we collect:
- Google profile information: Name, email, profile picture and unique user ID
- Authentication token: To keep your session active securely
This information is obtained through Google Sign-In and stored in Firebase Authentication.
2.2. User Profile (Signed-in users only)
- Username: The username you choose within the app
2.3. Game and Leaderboard Data
- Reaction times: Your reaction time results (in milliseconds) per race and per season
- Attempt counters: Number of game attempts used (stored locally on your device)
- Leaderboard entries: Your best time published to the Firestore leaderboard (signed-in users only)
Attempt counters are stored locally in SharedPreferences on your device and are not sent to any server.
2.4. Automatic Technical Information
Through Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, we automatically collect:
- Crash and error data: Information about crashes and errors occurring in the application
- Device information: Device model, operating system version, system language
- Usage data: Statistics on how the application is used (features used, usage time)
- Analytics events: Actions performed in the app (game started, score published, etc.) without personally identifiable data
2.5. Information We DO NOT Collect
F1 Reaction DOES NOT collect:
- Payment or financial information (the app is completely free)
- Contacts or information from other applications
- Geographic location
- Browsing history outside the app
- Access to camera, microphone or device files
- Any data if you play without signing in
3. How We Use the Information
We use the collected information for:
- Authentication and account management: Verify your identity and manage your session (signed-in users only)
- Leaderboard: Store and display your best reaction time on the global and per-race leaderboards
- Improve stability: Identify and fix technical errors via Crashlytics
- Analyze usage: Understand which features are most used to improve the experience via Analytics
- Advertising: Show App Open Ads and Rewarded Ads via Google AdMob to support the free app
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
F1 Reaction shows ads through Google AdMob:
- App Open Ads: Shown when the app is opened or resumed after being in the background
- Rewarded Ads: Optional ads you can watch to restore your game attempts
AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Data Storage and Sharing
5.1. Firebase / Google (Service Provider)
F1 Reaction uses the following Firebase services (Google LLC):
- Firebase Authentication: To manage Google sign-in (optional)
- Cloud Firestore: Cloud database to store user profiles and leaderboard entries
- Firebase Crashlytics: For error and crash monitoring
- Firebase Analytics: For anonymous usage statistics
- Firebase Remote Config: For app configuration (maintenance mode, minimum version)
These services process data according to Google's Privacy Policy and are subject to strict security measures.
5.2. Google Sign-In
Sign-in is performed through Google Sign-In, which is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We only receive the basic profile information you authorize.
5.3. No Other Third Parties
F1 Reaction DOES NOT share, sell, rent or transfer your personal data to:
- Advertising companies (beyond AdMob for ad delivery)
- Social networks
- Data aggregators
- Any other third party for commercial purposes
6. Data Security
- Encryption in transit: All communications use HTTPS/TLS
- Encryption at rest: Data in Firebase is encrypted
- Secure authentication: OAuth 2.0 with Google Sign-In
- Firebase Security Rules: Access rules that restrict who can read/write leaderboard data
- Local data: Attempt counters are stored locally on your device only
7. Data Retention
- Account and leaderboard data: Retained while you keep your account active
- Local attempt counters: Stored on your device; deleted when you uninstall the app
- Technical data (crashes, analytics): Firebase retains them for a maximum of 90 days
7.1. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the profile screen. This will:
- Delete your user account and profile
- Delete your leaderboard entries
8. Children's Privacy
F1 Reaction is intended for users over 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent and discover that your child under 13 has created an account without your consent, contact us to delete it immediately.
9. Your Rights as a User
As an F1 Reaction user, you have the right to:
- Access: View all your stored personal information
- Rectification: Edit your username from the profile screen
- Deletion: Delete your account and associated data at any time
- Revocation of access: Revoke Google Sign-In permissions from your Google account
- Opposition: Object to the processing of your data (which may limit leaderboard features)
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. We will notify you of significant changes through:
- Updating the "Last updated" date in this document
- An in-app notification for important changes
Your continued use of the app after the changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
11. Legal Compliance
F1 Reaction complies with:
- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union
- Google Play Store Privacy Policies
- Spanish data protection legislation (LOPDGDD)
- Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of the U.S.
